Amazone Resources unfolds

its FlexTank in

preparation for test run

Paramaribo Nov 21, 2016

Preparations for a first official test run with Amazone Resources’ FlexTank started November 16th. During last week the technical team, consisting of engineers from Spain, Italy and the Netherlands, combined with local manpower from Suriname, assembled the FlexTank.

The FlexTank is a modular water bag consisting of five modules, which are zipped together with the world’s strongest zipper. The FlexTank is made from PVC coated reinforced fabric and is approximately 60 meters long, 10 meters wide and 5 meters deep. During the test run the FlexTank will be towed from the Surinameriver via the Atlantic Ocean to Barbados.

This will be the first time ever a bulk water bag will be towed over such a long distance (approx. 1000 kilometres).

The FlexTank has a capacity of 2500 m3 but will be filled with approximately 1600m3 for the test. The fresh water comes from the Surinameriver.

On Tuesday morning November 22nd the test run will officially leave Suriname after a ceremony in Suriname’s capital, Paramaribo. One could follow a live stream on this test run on our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7KbUGlCXdFixDrzSaiylRw)
